The Card: Five of Diamonds
The list I’ll be reading in 2020.
The Story: “Welcome to Your Family” from Polly Rosenwaike short stories collection “Look How Happy I’m making You“. The collection is about pregnancy, new motherhood, infertility, miscarriages and abortion. Also how to deal with a newborn. “Welcome to Your Family” Is about Alice the newborn and her parents who decided to invite the whole family to celebrate Christmas and see the baby for the first time.
Quotes I liked:
But the details are everything, as Tracy’s constantly reminding the high school students in her English classes. The details are what count. Without details, you can’t expect people to care about anything you have to say.
**************************
I have never read Rosenwaike before (hadn’t even heard of her, to be honest). Maybe as someone who doesn’t have any children, I’m less likely to read a collection like Welcome to Your Family.
Thanks for participating in Deal Me In this year! It’s always a great pleasure for me early in the new year when my wordpress notification “chime” sounds off on my phone or iPad, and I see that someone else has “accepted the challenge” 🙂

I always wanted to join since 2017 every year I make my list and try to keep up but I fail miserably. Every time I read a tweet about the challenge I feel so jealous and regret that I’m not in the challenge so I decided to change that this year.
I don’t have any children myself but to be truth this story I enjoyed the most. And I think this book will be a great read. Me too I haven’t heard of the Author before. I find the book when I searched for 2019 best short stories collection. Thanks a lot for the amazing welcome and for your support. So happy to finally join you.
