The Story: “Super-frog saves Tokyo” from Haruki Murakami short stories collection “After the Quake“. the story is about Katagiri who arrives to his apartment to find a huge frog asking Katagiri to help him to save Tokyo from a very, very big earthquake.
Quotes I liked:
The whole terrible fight occurred in the area of imagination. That is the precise location of our battlefield.
My Rating: 2 stars ⭐⭐
the story didn’t make a lot of sense to me and really didn’t get the point of it or what Murakami wanted to tell by writing it. It just gives me the vibes of ninja turtles.
I read this story for #DealMeIn2020 reading challenge.
I’ve actually become a big fan of Murakami over the years (of his short stories, the collection Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is easily my favorite), but I can see that it takes a while to get used to his style. Some of his novels are wildly convoluted. 🙂
